Crown Chakra Meditation Techniques

Sahasrara chakra meditation– focusing on the crown of the head, imagine light and the quality openness and expansion. Breathing into the chakra from all directions. On your exhale, extend energy lines to earth and sky. Continue. You may add the mantra Om


Expanding Awareness– start focusing on your breath. Shift your attention from the breath to your awareness of the breath. Allow your awareness to expand outward. With each exhalation, feel that your awareness expands more and more. Rest in the spaciousness of your expanded awareness.


The watcher meditation– focus your attention on the space inside your mind. The mind is like the sky with the thoughts moving like clouds inside. You are watching the thinking. You are not the thinker. Observe the thought clouds as they move through the sky of your awareness. Make note of the thoughts as they arise for further investigation.

Patanjali’s meditation techniques from the yoga sutras- suggestions to quiet the mind:

  • 1.32 Practice on a single principle– pick one meditative technique and stick with it.
  • 1.33 The projection of friendliness, compassion, gladness and equanimity towards all objects – See Metta Meditation
  • 1.34 By expulsion and retention of the breath. Focus on the exhale and pause of the breath before the inhale starts. 
  • 1.35 An object-centered activity has arisen which holds the mind in steadiness. Focus on an object or a sense that holds the minds attention. For example focusing on the energy between your hands.
  • 1.36 Focus on sorrowless illumination – Think of someone you love. Let the feeling of love grow. Now,imagine a light within your heart, a bright golden white light. As you breath in let the light get stronger and brighter, as you exhale let it expand outwards. 
  • 1.37 Consciousness is directed to a being who has conquered attachment. Image an enlightened being it could be a Guru or Christ or Buddha or a deity or an imagine being. Think of the qualities of that being. How do they see the world? How do they see you?
  • 1.38 Consciousness is resting on the insight arising from dreams and sleep. Remember an uplifting inspirational dream. Remember the feeling, details and message of the dream.
  • 1.39 Or through meditative absorption as desired

Reiki means universal life energy and is a healing practice used to promote balance throughout the human system. Reiki works with the subtle vibrational field that surrounds and penetrates the body promoting natural healing. Once trained the practitioner may treat oneself or another.
